Fall Zuwharrie is a month away!!
« on: September 08, 2005, 09:12:55 AM »
Just thought I'd sound the alarm here on Zukiworld.  Didn't see a post from Art, he must be slackin'.  Here's the info pasted over from zuwharrie.com:
The dates for the 2005 fall Zuwharrie are Oct 7-9 at Uwharrie National Forest. The staff definitely looks forward to seeing you all there!

It's time again, we are now accepting registrations for the fall event!

Go on over to https://store.zuwharrie.com/register/register.php to get started!

The registration form has been completely re-written, so let me know if you get any errors.  With the new system, the "Who's Coming"  should update in real-time if you pay online.

The list of who's registered is at http://store.zuwharrie.com/register/who.php

Here are some rules that all should be aware of, read this link and please abide: http://bbs.zuwharrie.com/content/topic,18170.0.html

Here is a map of the park.  Zuwharrie is held at the Badin Lake Group Camp which is indicated on the map.

And here is a trail map.  I suggest you print and laminate.

IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT GOING...GO!, If you are going and starting from the Northeast, we at LMS are leaving Hamburg, NY at about 10am Thurs morn.  We will be more than happy to meet up convoy with anyone.  If you need accurate directions, send me a PM with your starting address and I'll e-mail you directions that I've used for the past two years with a very accurate and easy route into the park and to the camp.  If you are going to post here and whine that you are not going because of GAS PRICES PM me too.  I'll use Streets and Trips to tell you how much more it's gonna cost you.  It's gonna cost me about 35 bucks each way from NY to NC.  It's a damn vacation people.  I'm saving the extra 70 bucks, so can you!!!!  I for one am not going to miss a Zuwharrie because of these damn oil companies and neither should you!!!

Assuming I get my hubs replaced and 4x4 working, is a stock track/kick worth taking to this event?  I just got mine and haven't the time and money to do any mods before then.  I'm even on stock size tires  :(

It looks like they have a wide range of trails.  Maybe I could do the less difficult ones?

Yes a stock Track/Kick will make most of the trails. If you take the correct line or the available bypass. A stock Samurai can run all of the trails but will incure some body damage.

Yep, run with the stocker group and you'll get through ok.  I've seen stock sami's and trackkick's make it easily.  You'll probably need a spotter, but your group will help you out with that.  Just bring the hubs, we'll get 'em working.

Thanks for the offer but I know you'll have better things to do down there than put in someone else's hubs!  Money is a bit tight right now darn it.  I might be there or I might not.  I don't live far away though (Raleigh).  Is there any possibility an inexperienced mechanic like me might be able to pull off the auto ones and clean them out or grease them up or something?
