Anyone on here ever tried to yank another vehicle out of the mud with your trackick or sammy? I've been in situations where I haven't been stuck, but another vehicle has, but I've always been hesitant to try pulling anyone out because I know the tow rating on my tracker is only like 1000 pounds and I've only got 85 horsepower. Anyone tried it? What kind of vehicle did you pull out?

I almost pulled out an S10, but a dodge 2500 on 40" with a v10 came by and yanked it out instead.

I've pulled out a full size 1/2 ton pickup buried hub deep and high centered on the diff so bad that a 4 foot hilift couldn't lift the diff off the ground. I've also yanked out a sammy a few times and my friend in his sammy has pulled out a few full sized broncos. Two helpful keys are to use 4 lo and a stretch-style recovery strap. Having the stuck vehicle try to drive out while you're pulling is also helpful.

Important things to know about it though, you have to use a good quality stretch-style recovery strap(mine's made by Keeper), not chain or non-stretch tow straps and definately do not use something with metal hooks! They become projectiles when they break(and they WILL break eventually). Also throw a blanket over the strap to absorb the recoil if it breaks and make sure bystanders are further away than the strap is long.

Once hooked up securely to both vehicles and ready to pull, take the slack out slowly, making sure there are no knots or obstructions. Then romp on it hard to full stretch and keep the tension on the strap by either keeping on the gas or standing on the brakes, and as the strap recoils, the stuck vehicle gets pulled out.

I've seen 1500lb bug-based rail buggys pull out full sizes before using this method...

my first wheeling trip after i installed my lift and tires. i went with a couple of big trucks lifted running on 37's. what ever i couldn't crawl over i drove around, i went everywhere they went never got stuck. one truck broke his transfer case mount, he was done for the day, and the other broke his front axle, and got stuck in some serious mud. the dude comes over to me, and asks me to help pull him out. i was so worried about snapping my front axle, but i couldn't just leave him there so i hook a strap to my front tow hook, and yanked him out. it took several tries but i did it, and didn't break anything. i was so impressed with my rig that day it was amazing to see

one thing i did learn that day was when pulling someone out of the mud in reverse. roll your windows up 

Pulling in reverse should be avoided if possible because of the weaker side of the aluminum front diff housing becomes more stressed in reverse... That and roll up the windows! LOL!

if it was possible under the circumstances i would have. and yes i was very worried about popping the front dif. at times i was going forward, and then reverse faster trying to get a hard yank. i got him out, and nothing broke. i don't have lockers, and i run 30" tires so i'm sure that helped.

So Far.. One Jeep. ( on two sepreate ocasions ), 2 full size blazers, and one Sami.  The Jeep my buddie owns and is bone stock. Tires included. The only saving grace to it, is the ARB bumper, and 8000lb warn on the front. Good thing hes a buddie of mine, we go wheelin all the time. I try not to go out anywhere without him as his winchin skillz are impressive.  One of the Blazers we pulled out took 3 of us and 4 hours of pull/dig/shimmy/digsomemore.  Blazer on 33"s  6" of lift burried up to the hood. My bud took video..  Buddie had a broken foot, limped 2 miles outa the bush, and got ahold of our local 4x4 group for help.  We got there. what a mess, Ive never in my history seen anything that bad.  We got im out. pulled the plugs, drained the oil, reloaded, and he drove the blazer home.  Only broke one axle strap.  Took 1 Jeep, 1 Sami with low gears and my Kick to get him out.  Im not sure if its still on the road. But the good deed is done.

We once pulled a 30 ton truck with just 6 sammy's, must have a pic somewhere, it had one wheel pretty deep in loose sand but it looked spectacular. must have pic's somewhere I'll try to think about looking them up after the weekend 

I've tugged a friend's 4Runner out of deep snow (then he pulled me out, the same day).

With a tow strap holding me to a tree, I can probably winch almost anything out, using a snatch-block.

I've yarded out some heavy rigs, but usually not mud bound ones. Once, we had a 1.0l sj410 hooked to my 1.6l trac to tow a FS blazer across a river. (the FS blazer competed at TTC and is on the cover of 4wheeler this month  )

I SOOOO wish I did, but I didn't have my camera that day, and Drone637 (the sj410) had lost his into a creek earlier in the day.

the bigest thing i pulled out was a 2002 f-350 4 door 4x4 with 33" irocs pulling a tandum axle trailer with 4 fourwheelers on it. it was buried to the axle on the beach and wasn't going any where. first i pulled out the trailer then i hook up to truck left adout 2 feet of slack in the strap and hit it full throttle she came right out. pulled out several full size trucks, jeeps, broncos, did i mention jeeps.

The biggest truck that I have pulled out was my friend's 74 Dodge 3/4 ton extended cab.  We call it the Pig F***er.  My Samurai pulled it out of a ditch from a gravel road.  Other friend's vehicles that I have yanked out of trouble include a full size Bronco, Ranger, Toyota, and a CJ5.  I was pulled out of a mud pit once by a VW Baja with a winch.  I get a kick out of the people who are like "my truck's so bad a$$ it's never been stuck."  My usual response is that you just don't play hard enough.
