How fast is a Samurai - is my motor shot
« on: September 11, 2005, 08:01:08 PM »
I have a samurai I've been rebuilding, have it back on the road.  since I'm new to these I'm not sure how fast they ever were new.  My truck has 34" tires but I change the gearing to 5:12.  Accoriding to the charts that should be about right.

the truck run fines but the sensor light come on (its an 1988 year)  I've rebuild the body and the rest of the truck was good.  I havent checked the compresson or such but the motor runs good.  If I take to oil cap off there is lots of pressure in the crank case.  (yes the PVC valve is working)

I can get 60 mph tops out of it on the highway - I don' se any smoke -  what's normal for performance with this.  I don't plan on driving it alot so I can live with the speed, but trying to figure out if the motors dieing

60mph on 34's sounds about right for a top speed. Actually, even with the gears, you're speedometer is reading slower than you're actually going, so if it's reading 60, you're probably travelling at 70+...
Had a cool sig pic till I changed the text... sigh...
