So i got to thinking the other day when pulling a trailer with my sidekick. What rpm is it bad to hold the engine at for long periods of time. Because when i'm on the freeway normal crusing speeds of 75 to 85 is 4500 to 5000 rpms. WHen pulling a trailer i sometimes hold around 6000 to 6500. I have a sport and with my chip i can take it to 8 grand. WHen racing i shift at 7500. These things seem to get most of there power at higher rpms. I always watch temp and oil pressure and it never gets hotter then half or pressure never get to high or low. What do you guys think?

Well since wild does drove it in mostly stock form with a turbo for so many miles I guess they're pretty tough, but my 8v hits the rev limiter at 6500 rpm if I recall correctly.

well i have a 1.8. and just normal freeway speeds i'm well over 4500. But the questions remains is it bad to hold it above 6500 for long periods of time towing.

I would say yes, do not tow at that high of an rpm for very long, the 1.3's will take nine grand all day long(so i've heard) the 1.6 maybe six or sixty five hundered rpms once and a while under a load, but the 1.8's are not that common for most of us but if it has a longer stroke than a 1.6 I think that sixty five hundered towing is to many r's, just my gut feeling.
