 ???Hey everyone, Does anyone know why my 95 Tracker, w/ auto trans, 2 1/2 lift, 29"tires, full exhaust system, inc. header, calmini air filter, will not reach the indicated redline of 6500 before it shifts? Under full throttle acceleration from a standing stop, it pulls great up to 5500, then shifts, crisply and cleanly.  the trans is in great shape as is the rest of the drivetrain, it has 67k on it. I also installed a module from Next level Performance that goes inline on the airbox air temp sensor. The Tracker runs stronger and accellerates much better than stock, and shifted the same way before all the mods. Any ideas?

I think it's just the nature of an auto. My honda was an auto, and I swapped to a 5 speed, with the auto I'd get about about 56/5700, now with the 5 speed I can bounce on the rev limiter at 7000rpm
I've heard of shift kits that help get a little more rpm, but I'm not sure they're available for a kick.

there is a rocker switch to the right of the gear shift that's marked:    N  A/T  P

Flip it to the "p" position  & your rpm's will go up much further before shifting

Its probably on the back end of the power curve at 5500 rpm in stock form, revving it higher will mean it will accelerate slower than if you had changed up. In tuned form it may have more potential but you would have to find a way to cheat the ECU.

Well there is no rocker switch on my model, looks like there was a place for it, but the knock out plate is still there. As far as cheating the ECU, anybody know how? ???

Not sure if that year has a kickdown cable,
on mine a small change will kickdown the
engine sooner, or keep it in lower gears
longer, to a point, it will also change the
annoying 2nd-3rd gear jumping under cruise
at around 40 MPH by going the other way,
I would tighten for higher RPM loosten for
shifting wierdness, or leave it alone, 5500
is about right, and hold it into gear manually

 ;) Thanks Wild, It really does run well so I'll just leave " well" enough alone. I do not have any "hunting" problems while in cruise, and at an indicated 70 mph, it's turning about 3800rpm. By the way, My tracker did not come with factory cruise, but i was easily able to retro fit mine with an aftermarket kit from Audiovox, about 100. bucks at Pep Boys or thru JC Whitney. Works great, I was even able to put one on my old Harley bagger, it also works great! Thanks again.
