new Jimny
« on: March 15, 2005, 11:03:56 PM »
Just been into the local dealer (just opened 1/2 mile from work  ;D). saw the new Jimny, same shape but new VVT engine with 85bhp  ;D ;D and push button 4wd.
85bhp is more than my 1.6 8V! and it has more torque than the old 1328 G13BB too.

Have them here too. Pity they didn't put the 1.5vvt in instead of the 1.3vvt. Just a bigger stroke and you get 83kW/112bhp|removethispart|@6400rpm & 143Nm/105ftlb.|removethispart|@4100rpm Did you also notice that they have have new manual and auto trans as well as new t-case ratios. The old t-case was 1.320 High/2.145 Low and the new manual gets 1.000 High/2.002 Low and the auto gets 1.320 High/2.642 Low.

Thats sounds promising, thats 20% lower, is that stickless too? Trouble is autos don't really sell over here though so its probably not available. If it is its not likely to come up in the local breakers.

IN the first picture it has a cv style joint on the transfer case, and the other things are the electronic actuators for the t-case, the funny thing on the rear diff is a vibration damper of some kind.

I wish I could find a way to get one of those in the states!  A nice stripped down convertible model would be cool

As long as it meets all DOT and some other certification it can be imported, I think they will tell you if you can import it or not. Call the License bureau. Just make sure you don't get a right hand drive unit

Everything is always more expensive in the UK than almost anywhere else. The prices quoted are the official prices though and no one ever pays them (well maybe the occasional sucker). When I bought my Vit, list price was 12K, I paid 9K. When we bought my girlfriends Jimny the list was £10.5, dealer offered 10.3, I got the cheapest price from the web (9609.74) went back and showed them. Dealer said he could match it but would round it up to 9610 to 'make it a nicer number'. I said 9600 would be much nicer and better rounded - deal done. last week the top came down for the first time this year too  ;D

They don't seem to do the new ones in the two colour metallic  :(
