Well damn
« on: September 20, 2005, 01:34:45 PM »
On the way to a cross country meet about 30 minutes ago, I rearended my friend's S10. We were doing about 35, someone cut off the car in front of him, and they slammed on their brakes, then he did, then I did... they locked up instantly and I went sliding into the back of him. There were a good 4 car lengths between us, yet my baldass tires and no ABS contributed to me sliding into his rear bumper. His truck is fine, needs a new rear bumper, but his bumper made contact with my grill... taking out my headlights, grill, hood, and both fenders. There goes my lift/4x4 money!

Oh well, I'm a pretty laid back guy and so is he so I'm not terribly upset... and the cops didn't get brought into it so instead of skyrocketing insurance and a citation, I just get to pay for his new bumper, which shouldn't be too bad.

Just thought I'd share.  >:(

at least noone was hurt.  do a homemade 4" bodylift and buy some mean mud tires.  that way, if you want to do a suspension lift later and get rid of the body lift, you already have the tires

Sorry to hear about your misfortune!  Glad no one was hurt.

Um, so are spacers on top of your coils refered to as body lift or suspension lift?

Yeah, I'm hoping I can work something out with my parents and come out of this ahead... I was going to order my body lift today and get tires next week, because I really shouldn't have been driving on tires as bald as the ones I have. Now I still need tires, plus all this other fun new stuff... so maybe I will work a financing deal out with my dad, get the lift and the tires at the same time I fix this all up. I've got about $400, and now I won't have to pay for gas for a while. Time to start calling more junkyards, hell maybe the place I was going to get the 4x4 parts can from can give me all the stuff I need.

Looks like a new S10 bumper is going to set me back a lot more than I thought it would... $150 or more. My friends parents wanted to call the cops and get insurance involved, but thankfully he didn't.

4x4 is going to be on the backburner for sure now.

ok hold up, wait a min, i'm not understanding.

You skidded into the back of you buddys S-10 because he slamed his brakes from the guy in front of him, so where the F is the first guy?

I don't know where you live but in my town if that happens, shit flys, some one would have some broken peices and it wouldn't be me or my friends.

Well it was 3 cars out of a group of 7 or 8 going to a cross country meet across town, and in 3 lane stop and go traffic. 2 of my friends were in front of me, one in a honda and the other in the s10 that I hit. A guy cut off the honda, who was 2 cars in front of me, the honda slammed on his brakes, the s10 slammed on its brakes, and I slammed mine on. My friend in the s10 was riding the honda (my other friend)'s ass, and barely had time to stop himself. I was 3-4 car lengths behind the s10... it had been stop and go, lots of slowling down so I lightly applied the brakes at first, thinking they were just slowing down again... but no, by the time i realized my friend was at a dead stop, my brakes locked up and i plowed into him. He nudged the honda, and the guy in front took off and my friend in the honda was too busy worrying about what was going on behind him to even notice the make of the car.

Is it legal to drive without headlights during the day? My headlights are gone and I need to drive to school tomorrow... Also it would help for me to drive to pick up the parts I need to.

It's not illlegal unless the weather goes bod, but be prepaired for the cops to mess with ya and make it home WAY before dark.

BTW, the string of events you listed above, the accident will be judged your fault by 99% of police. If there would of been other contact in front of you causing an abrupt stop then it would be somebody elses fault (whomever caused the innital contact.

Yeah, I knew it was my fault and thats why I kept the cops out of it.

$500 deductible so I would have been paying the cost of the wreck plus the skyrocketing rates.
