door hinges
« on: March 19, 2005, 02:04:06 AM »
I tried doing a search but didn't find anything.
I was wondering if anyone has any good information on cutting the door hinges so they can be pulled off without unbolting. We have a 87 Sami soft top if it matters. Whoever owned it before has put just regular bolts in instead of the factory ones on just the body side of the hinge and before we paint it I would like to get the stock ones put back on because they look better.
Is this a good thing or does it weaken the hinges to much???
I did find this web site but I would still like other opinions on if this is a good idea or not.

Thanks in advance

Thats how you do it.

Hardest part is figuring out how to get the door dinger to quit.

You would think the noise from the tires would drowned out any dinging sound  :D
We hope to cut the hinges this weekend and get the doors  ready for paint, but we will have to tarp the Sami off since we are getting rain while we work on the doors.
