Got FSM?
« on: September 26, 2005, 04:07:21 PM »
I just picked up a complete set of GM factory service manuals for the Tracker and I'm impressed. They make Haynes and Chilton's look like comic books. If you can get a set it may save you big bucks on repairs and you might learn a thing or three. ;D

Yep, I have one too.  Pretty detailed.  Kinda expensive unless you catch on on eBay...

For the monetarily-challenged, I suggest the Chilton Import Truck/SUV CD available at most autoparts stores.   Not the FSM, but LOTS better than Haynes!

BTW, was your printed on thin bleed-through paper, TN_Tracker?  If so, you can understand how difficult it might be to scan and turn into a PDF document.  Lots of pages and most of them faintly showing the other side of the page.  GM is pretty clever at making a hard to copy document...

I just got a full set too and they are worth every penny.  Used them for the first time yesterday.

I was finally able to see how to replace my kickdown cable - and this time when I took the valve body apart (to replace gaskets) I was able to see how to put it back together correctly (even had a drawing showing were the checkball goes).  Replaced the vacuume modulater while I was at it.  Drove it to work this morning for the first time in weeks.

Still having to warm the transmission up before it will shift above 1st, but it doesn't take nearly as long now.  I'm thinking now I just need to change the fluid a couple more times to work the rest of the old fluid out (or get it flushed).
