U-joints at each end.  It's not a road rig, so no worries about it comming apart and killing someone on the highway.

interesting hopefully it doesn't come apart on the trail and put another cross up.

well, it's not as bad as it sounds, I'm just not very good at explaining things aparently.  SO, disreguard my first commit....lol
If I had some pix of it, I'd sure post them so you can see what I'm talking about.
It IS welded on one end (factory weld)...the other end (which is the side the rag joint was originally on, and the side that has the JB WEld on it) has been cut, and another splined piece with a u-joint on it slides up into it with about 2"- 3" of shaft up in the hollow steering shaft.  like I said, it's very solid, and can't possably come apart unless you remove it completely.
I guess it just makes since when you actually see it.
