transfer case mounts
« on: October 27, 2005, 04:10:59 PM »
A while back I read something on using "skateboard"????? bushings/bolts/nuts  as a replacement for transfercase mounts.  I cant locate this thread anywhere.  First of all what do you guys think as far a dependability( i dont like rigging things, they always seem to not work for me), and what parts do I look for.

this is the same method i currently use except instead of using skateboard bushings, i use the old stock leaf spring bushings. the basic concept is this, take out the old stockers one at a time and replace with one rubber bushing making sure the hole in the middle lines up with the transfer case arm hole from the old mount and the perch hole, then go to ace hardware or napa and get some appropreate length bolts (3 of them) washers for both sides and airplane nuts (plastic end so it wont loosen) and bolt it down until snug. works alot better than stock and i havnt broken one yet ever since. make sure you have an extra sturdy t case mount not stock mind you with an extra arm that attaches to extra case bolts on the front output flange (cant remember who sells them i made my own) so you wont lunch your t case mounting holes from torque (i have 33x14x15 boggers and am locked front and rear with 6.1 to 1 gears in the t case)

good luck!
