manual freewheeling hubs

hi guys I have just bought a 95 vitara 2 soft top in vgc  but there is a aproblem with one of the freewheel hubs in that it is  impossible to move the selector from free to locked it goes about halfway now after using wd40  and turning it back and frth with a pair of pliers, the other one is quite free to move is this a common problem and is there a solution regards alan

Very common problem and pretty easy to fix.  I did my driver side one in June.

Using pliers is a bad idea, it can cause hairline cracks that will allow moisture in and eventually lead to bearing failure. I've got an '89 that lost the right front wheel because the previous owner used pliers. He sold it to me cheap after the wheel fell off. ;D

Like keith posted it's an easy fix, a little time and a little lube.
