Different engins

Hey all,

Alot of you guys have put new engins into your Sierra's (Sami's).  I was just wondering... What engins are people using?  I'm seriously thinking about upgrading the engin but i need to have a place to start.  What engins are you using?  Hpw big can i go without mods to the engin bay?  Which diesil engins can be used?

easiest way to go is a 1.6 motor but i heard of people using the vw diesil but thats what i heard im going to be in the prosses of putting a 1.6 8 valve in one of my sammys

the suzuki 1.6 16 valve is a good one as is the vw 1.6 diesel or gas engines, the 16 valve feels like it has about four times the power over the stock 1.3 .

Early Honda engines rotate the wrong way so they can't easily be used. Aside from that you can use just about anything. Track/Kick 1.6 must be the easiest.  Have a look around the boards you will see what others have used. I personally have seen more differerent engines fitted than I can remember, Ford Crossflow, all sizes, Ford Pinto, Ford diesel, Nissan 1.5 pertrol and diesel, Vauxhall SOHC, Peugeot and VW diesel and TD. Mazda TD (That was a Factory fitment). Then are the 2ltr Suzuki swaps and the US V6s too. If you don't want to modify the shell then a small body lift works too

     The guys have given you a bunch of great information and suggestions, but I would suggest you need to figure out a couple of thing for yorself first.

- How much do you want to spend?
- How much horse power do you want?
- How much of the work can you do?
- How much of the work can friends help with?
- How much work will you have to pay for?

When I first started racing a few decades ago my father pointed out...

Power takes skill, time and money...if you don't have much money (me) you better have a lot of time and skill.

The other side is if you haven't got much time or skill you better have  a lot of money.

Defining what you want and what you can do will go along ways in making your choices easier.
