ZR2 package...
« on: November 22, 2005, 06:40:34 PM »
I was just curious. Can anyone tell me what was included in the ZR2 package offered on the Chevy Trackers? I know they had the decal, the extra fender flares that match the bumpers, and the bigger engine. Was there anything else?

I know one of the features was bigger tires, but not much.  I'm thinking they were 215/75R15's and all the ones I've seen were wearing the infamous Goodyear Wrangler RT/S POS tires. :P

I think there were skid plates as well...maybe...mom and dad looked at one for towing behind their motorhome but decided they wanted something bigger.  I got to ride around in it and liked it but didn't learn much about it.  Too bad they never bought it, their van's lame. ;)

Skid plates, alloy wheels (and spare), a slightly larger tire size (215/75 R15), and an upgraded interior cloth.  I got it for the V6 (don't like the leather and chrome in the LT package) and the skid plates are a nice bonus ;)

I think they came standard with an automaitc too.  (I prefer a 5 speed.)  And as for the skid plates, I have them on my base 2000 4 door, unless they're a little bit larger or something?  But I do have them and they came standard, in fact the only option on mine was the roof rack cross bars.  Dave ;D

I got a "04 LT I dont like leather either so I opted for cloth. It's your money tell them what you want or don't want. They had to source my truck the way I wanted it from another city or else there would have been no deal.

Can you order those skid plates through the dealership? A pair of those would be pretty sweet, considering there isn't any companies that offer them for the Gen2 zuks (that I know of anyway). Although I'm thinking that they're most likely pricey.

Made mine own out of 3/16th steel cost me about $30 to have it cut and bent at steel shop.  I will see if I can find some pics of it to post.

That's cool. Did you just take the measurements yourself and then take them to the steel shop? On another note  I wonder what the chances are of finding a ZR2 tracker at a scrap/parts yard.

Youch, that's expensive.  What are they, gold plated latinum? :o

Are they at least metal?  I think I could have the local fab shop make me something for cheaper than that. :P

don't forget the fantastic plastic add-ons....  my fender flares get caught up on stuff sometimes as they hang down like mud flaps  ???  have to watch closely when reversing over bumpy stuff, they pop back into place and the dealership sells the clips for about 50cents, just waiting for them to snap completely off one day...

Yeah, I like the fender flares but I am very dissapointed that the mudflaps are built in.  If only they were seperate then I could take them off.  The fronts used to hit when I would go over a curb.  I haven't noticed that recently, but I think that's because I'm missing the bottom 2-3 clips on all of them so they just move out of the way ;)  I probably need to be carefull if I'm ever backing up.

One other thing I noticed while looking at the suspension diagram in a parts catalog, the ZR2 package came with different bump stops!!!  I'm wondering if they are bigger to protect against the larger tires or shorter to give you more flex.  I'll measure them when I install my lift soon....

Check Hawk Strictly Suzuki, got mine from them from a ZR2 for about $100 plus shipping. I've used them quite a bit, certainly the best $100 I've spent so far on the Vitara.

Are you talking about the skidplate or the fender flares?
