Has anyone on here done this? I know I will need to change the wiring harness, the ecu, and some exhaust mods. I have also been told I need to do the fuel pump, is that true? Any advice would be great. Thanks.

Yep, I have swapped a few 16 V's into older 8 V Track/Kick's.  In a friends 1989 Tracker we switched the complete harness and even upgraded him from the 1989 to the 1995 dashboard and added tilt column at the same time.  For Krusty I modified a 1994 16 V harness and added it to the existing 8 valve wiring harness....piggyback style. Works fine either way, but swapping in a complete harness is the cheapest and cleanest. There are few wiring changes between those years and when there were changes 99.9% of the colors match up. IF you go to swap in a 1996 or later OBD2 16 valve it is a bit more complicated since the dash  and the plugs changed quite a bit and you would be better off modifying the harness then piggybacking the wiring harnesses.
Hope that helps you a bit.

I have a complete 1994 2wd donor vehicle. It is going into a 1989 sidekick.
