4WD problem with SJ
« on: June 29, 2005, 03:43:34 AM »
hi, recently i pulled out a vitara, i believe this strain to have broken my 4wd!  :'(

if i put it into 4wd, hi or low, the gear stick literally pops back out, and i have loud clunking noises if i stear too.

is there a simple answer? or a particular reason to it? or could there be a number of things wrong?

cheers
andy

The transfer case shifter could be just the shifter sheet  worn out under the lever. This is a simple and inexpensive fix.

As far as the clunking noise. we need more information about your SJ.  Is the noise coming from the front or rear? ?an you feel it in the steering wheel? Are you running any type of differential locking device in the front or rear? Any kind of specs would help.
