XL7 2.7l Thermostat Location
« on: November 21, 2010, 04:30:59 PM »
I had a CEL show up (P0128 IIRC) and told that the engine doesn't run up to engine temp. Followed the top hose off the radiator and the housing looked real small for a thermo.  Pulled the cap anyways, and no thermo. It got too dark even with a light. Followed the lower hose off the radiator and it goes from rubber to steel tube to a connection with a housing that looks big enough for the thermo. Is the thermo located under this? Its located under the top hose connector.

its under the larger housing that goes to the lower rad hose, (the one that sits right beneath the upper rad hose housing.

Thanks. That was my guess. I really don't want to loose too much antifreeze when I do this. It has 112k miles on it and all original cooling. I planned to flush this spring and want to use distilled water/coolant than my hard water from my house.

I've gotten the same code twice on snowy mornings up here where I live.  Never hardened before.  I'm not in the mood to change it this time of year and it's not that serious of problem.
