Ah, that's a good one. Getting better lighting inside. Do you happen to have an favorite seller for this on Amazon? I've kind of given up on having a good dome light and just keep a magnetic one available but fixing what's there is better.

Eric... I've done neither of those things, but my Samurai is mostly street with a few desert roads thrown in... A cheap mod I made when I 1st got the car was to up grade the interior light to a LED... The old incandescent light was useless... A couple bucks on Amazon...

We've started a project to revive a couple of our first project Samurai (GI Jane and Wedgee) for an upcoming adventure. It'll be a bit of a 'restart' for these two rigs and we're going to stay on 30 in tires for Jane and remove the Dana 44's and put Samurai axles back onto Wedgee. So, what's the consensus on the best, and perhaps the first, cheap mod one should do when building there Samurai? I can think of two right off the bat

-- remove the sway bar
-- remove the 'chiin strap' hitch mount on the back

What do you think?

Turns out the leak I have isn't from the water pump, but from the two heater hoses underneath the thermostat housing.

You can see the leak here.

I haven't had a chance to dig into it much, but I assume the hoses go into the thermostat housing? Or is the thermostat part of the intake manifold? I'll have to check later.

Just a thought... How about grabbing all of the parts from a SJ413/Samurai? If you get all the outer stuff, you'd be able to use Samurai brakes, right? -Eric

It may be possible to redrill your pulley and fan?  Or, perhaps a Samurai pulley and fan may work? It's probably not a v-belt though... hmm. -Eric

Trying to see if there's a domestically available water pump for a G13BB-powered JDM Suzuki Jimny Wide. The OEM part number is 1740083815 (which is out of production). This cross-references with available parts in the U.S. from Duralast and NAPA. The G13BB is also the same engine as the one in the Chevrolet Metro/Suzuki Swift with the 1.3-liter engine.

This pic shows the pump from a Metro (Duralast BWP-825). The pump's housing is right, but the holes for the stud spacing on the fan for the flange are too wide. I suppose if I had the Metro/Swift fan it'd be fine. Maybe?

The second pic shows an SJ413 pump vs OEM. You'll note the area with the arrow on the OEM pump isn't present on the SJ413 pump (NAPA TW 41084). However, the spacing for the fan studs is right. However, the Samurai (SJ413) uses the G13BA engine, and the Jimny Wide (JB33W) uses the G13BB. Perhaps that's the issue?

I know GMB (which makes water pumps) gives one part number for both applications (https://am.gmb.co.kr/products/products.asp?parts=wp&pno=GWS-30A), which seems odd.

Any insight on this?

. I suppose I could try and find someone to re line my shoes if that is even a thing any more

Man I haven't thought about shoe relining in years... Good luck on your quest, and Happy New Year...

Looks like the shoes are no longer available on partsouq or megazip. Does anyone know of any aftermarket brake shoes for 1983 model rear brakes. I suppose I could try and find someone to re line my shoes if that is even a thing any more
