2000 Grand Vitara.. boondox coil spacer lift w/ pro comp 2 inch lift shocks and ome struts. 225/75 R16 Kumho Mt's, powdercoated wheels, rear brake line relocation and stuff to acomodate. custom exhaust and intake along with some 1 off accesories.

In those pictures she is running a modified 2" Calmini lift (that was the only one available when I started building her). It is a combination of the Calmini kit, Ome Springs, Struts and spring spacers.

Other Mods include,

31X12.50 Boggers
Front and rear lockers
5.83 gears
Calmini Header
ARB snorkel
automatic/manual Electric radiator fan
centerforce Dual Friction Clutch
First generation Calmini Winch bumper
Ramsey Pro 6,000 winch
Custom 2.5" body lift. (First one installed on a sidekick)
and a bunch of other little stuff.


She is undergoing a complete rebuild right now. I just received a new 3" Calmini kit, 24" Rancho shocks came this morning, and I am waiting for the new OME struts to get here. She is going to get all the mods, over-rotation, widening, frame point lower, etc. Right now I am waiting for the folks at trail tough to get back from their trip so I can order the 4low kit. When complete she will be sporting 33's.

While I'm at it I want to say a huge thanks to Mike Hagen for his contribution to this sport, Many of the mods I am doing to lil Suzy were shared with us by Mike, I am grateful for the level of suspension expertise he has brought to the sport of TracKick off roading.

Currently, she sports the following:

1.6 8-valve Asian Auto Parts engine with a Sumo 1.3 head,  Sarge-built Weber DGAV32/36, Thorley 1.3 Header, 2.25" exhaust, refurbed 1.3 radiator, Calmini adapter kit, electric fuel pump, custom bumper, Breeze 4.5" SPOA, Breeze draglink, NCO RUF kit, Ford Bronco wagonwheel style wheels, 15 x 9.5" x 30 BFG ATs and Doetch Tech Schocks.  In-process mods include a rebuilt 'yota front DC driveshaft installed in the rear with RatAdapters and 4.625 Tracker R&Ps in Samurai carriers.

My wallet rewarded me with this gem in 2003:



The following November she and I starred in the televised results of a traffic accident on the downtown freeway.  Unfortunately the news chopper was from the same TV station I work for!  Always looking for face-time, I waved at the copter as it flew overhead describing the mile-long backup.  BTW That's why the front is black and the back is green - I welded on a new front clip to fix the damage.

In 2005, came the $500 Sidekick JLX:




I ripped out the engine, replaced the crank and $1600 later...

i have a 92 zuki kicker, bought it with 150.000 km to begin with 2 years ago.
the previous owner never took the kick off roading.. EVER. added another 53000 km, runs like new. moding it up i go. these lil buggers can rip! ;D ;D

I bought my Vitara new in 2000. Here in the UK they were still selling the old shape up till 01 or 02 (I forget). However in 1998 they reverted back to the 8V with an updated TBI system, unfortunately they never released an FSM or parts database for it (Spanish!). Mostly the parts are interchangeable with other models  ;D, but from all different years  :'(.  When I bought it the UK was in the grip of Foot and Mouth, so there was little or no offroading. About 6 months later the all clear was given, I fitted a set of MTs and took it to an off road site. Ever since then its been evolving.

I bought mine on september 20, 2005, for $600. Although the engine had a blown head gasket and a cracked head, It only had 124,000 on the chassis. After spending 650 on a JDM motor and about 200 on other random pieces, I have a running geo tracker. It also looks fairly nice for being a 1990, mostly because I bought it from the original owners, and they kept it covered up all the time and only drove it in the winter. I even had the window sticker(although it got lost >:() It has air conditioning(that still works) but no power steering, and hopefully I will someday find the time to install the tilt wheel that I got from a 1992 lsi, and I removed the rear seats. There are times I wish it were a 4 door or a hard top, but I guess I could just go and find a fiberglass hard top for it, and hopefully sometime this summer I will get a 2" calmini lift kit for it ;D.

I don't know for sure, but I don't see why not...

However, the mechanism is a lever-clamp type units that moves the entire steering column, from the firewall back, up and down about an inch or two as opposed to the push-button tilt steering found on US cars.

Unless you really have a reason for it (the stock steering wheel position is awkward for you or there are a wide range of driver sizes using the Zuk), I would not bother.  It might take a lot of dash disassembly to do it - perhaps a complete dash transplant depending on the possible difference in the shape of the dash itself at the steering wheel opening.

I would find one and test how it works/feels (if you haven't already) before trying a transplant

I have one in my '93 4-door 'kick (I think that they were not an option in the 2-doors) and I set it only once.  I'm 5'9" and the steering wheel position in my '96 2-door tracker is fine without the ability to adjust.
