We had a member of my old jeep club sit in the middle of the woods and watch his wife almost die, ALL DUE TO AN IMPROPERLY BUILT CAGE!!!!!!!!
DO NOT BUILD YOUR OWN CAGE UNLESS YOU ARE AN EXPERIANCED WELDER AND FABRICATOR THAT HAS AN EXPERIANCED CAGE BUILDER/DESIGNER HELPING YOU THROUGH OUT THE BUILD PROCESS AND INSPECTING YOU WORK!!!!!!!!!!!
Any doubts on where I stand on the subject???
Our club member had a violent roll off of a hill that resulted in a bad weld giving away. one of the bars, (spreader bar?) that braces the front dash loop against the loop behind the seat, broke loose and stabbed her in the side. If it was not for having and emergency room trauma surgern on the trail ride she would of died right there on the trail.
We all hope to never need the use of our safety equipment, but it's good to know it's done right if we ever do need it.
PLEASE, let someone experianced in cage fabrication/welding do your cage and/or have them teach you how to properly build one for your needs.
