Powerloss 1500rpm
« on: February 08, 2005, 06:34:30 AM »
Ever since I got my tracker, theres been a slight loss of power when I get to 1500rpm. This is most apparent on cooler days but I drive a standard so it's pretty picky on the clutch action. Any suggestions as to what would cause it? It's only in the 1500-1600 rpm range, and after 1st gear its less apparent in 2nd, and no one drives in 3rd in that range without stalling so.. anywho any ideas or possible answers would help. thanks in advance. ???

I have the same problem but its around 2500 to 2800, mostly in fourth gear. Its almost as if its got less torque at that right exact spot.........wierd.

Hahaha..

20 forward gears and 4 reverse gears. You're close.

But it takes 3 sticks to do it.

I guess technically there's 5 more if you consider 4 hi another set of gears..

;D

I'll explain:

2HI
1,2,3,4,5

4HI
1,2,3,4,5

Regular 4LOW
1,2,3,4,5

LOW 4.24
1,2,3,4,5

LOW+LOW 4.24
1,2,3,4,5

Reverse

2HI 1
4HI 1
4LOW 1
LOW 4.24 1
LOW+LOW 4.24 1

OK, so 25 forward gears, and 5 reverse gears.

A failing crank pulley Keyway will show as a loss of power below 3k rpms.  More noticable when cold.  A sure way to tell would be to check the truck with a timing light.  If the timing mark is jumping around , not sitting steady at a consistant place or looks to be out of time (I forget the correct # of Degrees).   Then I would look for a bad pulley / keyway.

Just my most recent issue.  Hope yous is simpler.

it is the pully on the top front of the motor that is on the end of the cam shaft, under that black plastic cover in the front.  you could undo a few bolts and pull it back a bit and see if you can see the center keyway is messed up or not.
