VIN #
« on: February 07, 2005, 07:56:22 AM »
Is there a way to decode the VIN # on a track/kick to see the exact info on it? By that I mean like, where it was made, options, parts differences between models etc?
Got Tracker?

yep. down load the fsm. from http://www.ackerdackerly.com/samuraiindex.html it's in three parts, for a sammie but should give you what your looking for.
1987,1988,1988,1990 samurai's,  1953 m38a1,  1996 x-90,blue.1996 x-90 red.1994 2 door tracker.   only Dead Fish go with the flow.                No Hairy Nosed Wombats were ran over on the trail today.       My ZUK is Xenophobic.

There are some free sites that will let you put in a VIN code and see what it says.

I'm not remembering what they are right now, but Google VIN decoding and you should get a few.

Oh, crap.  My brain musta slipped a tooth on the cam between the beginning and end of this thread...

Well, the ackerdackerly fsm won't cover the Track/Kick - will it?

Anyway, if it starts with a J it's built in Japan, and if it starts with a 2S3 it's a CAMI Kick.

The vin #'s should all be the same, be it a chebby or zuk ect. I could be wrong though.

Well I found one, well 2 actually.

Turns out I've got a Canadian Tracker. Mine actually starts with 2CN though and not 2S3. I guess 2S3 is for Sidekicks. I was searching for a specific Geo/Suzuki decoder like they have for chevys and whatnot to tell you the exact info, but I can't seem to find one.  :P

Here's what my FSM for a 95 Tracker describes the codes, in order left to right.  In paranthesis is the example it gives.
1.  Nation of Origin (2 : Canada)
2. Manufacturer (C : CAMI/GM of Canda/ Suzuki J.V.)
3. Make and Type (N : multipurpose pass vehicle)
4. GWR in pounds (B : 3001-4000, hydraulic brake system)
5. Line and Chassis Type (E : compact cab, 4x2.  J : compact cab 4x4)
6. Truck series (1 : 1/2 ton)
7.  Truck Body Type (8 : Jimmy/Tracker)
8.  Engine type & make (U : 1.6 L4 TBI, Suzuki)
9.  check digit
10.  Model year (S : 95)
11.  Assembly plant code (6 : Ingersoll, Ont.)
12.  plant sequential number (900001)

I have a '92 Kick that doesn't seem to correspond to these so I believe the Suzukis use different codes.   ???Hope this makes some sense!
