Spring rates
« on: January 12, 2005, 01:11:06 PM »
Whats the stock spring rate for the rear end of a 2 dr trackick?? The XJ coils I had where just too stiff. Was trying to find a coil that I can mount in the stock location, and capturing both ends, but still get full travel out of the rear end.

I was thinking of maybe QA 1 coils in about a 14" uncompressed length. Whaddya think?

200-225 should be soft enough
I bet the stockers are closer to
250-275 tho.

Let me see if I can look it up

Wild

OK, factory specs
rate is 156.5 pounds per inch

Hope this helps

Old Man Emu for a 2dr has a  spring rate of 140. Their 4dr is 180 and 4dr heavy is 200. This may give you some assistance. I found the 2dr in my swb reasonable but not super flexy and the 4dr heavy in my lwb quite stiff. The Calmini 3" suspension in my lwb is quite soft by comparison.

Where did you get em from, got a website?

Also, anyone know the lengths of various lifted coils, uncompressed?

Go with the 175 and 200. if you have a bigger than stock spare and any add-ons you will need the weight.

These coil rates are for SAS use NOT IFS. the 175 will work on an IFS truck, but the 200 in front will be WAY too soft.
The stock 2 door is in the 400 Lb range.  (I think going off of memory.)

ok, I was thinking about going with a 175 lbs spring that is 3" longer then a stock, uncompressed spring.

I'm looking at QA1's right now. How does this sound?

Something like this.

That's fine if you want to buy the
coilover shocks to go with them.

Nobody makes a spring that is the
same size as a Track/Kick (dia)

The springs you are looking at there
will not fit your trucklet, sorry
