coil suspension system for samurais
« on: January 04, 2005, 06:56:07 AM »
Does anyone have any experience with the coil suspension system from RRO for the samurai?
http://www.rocky-road.com/coil.html

Is it as good as they claim?
How tough is it to install?

Bill

It is not an easy install. It requires a LOT of welding and a LOT of grinding. Yes, it is as good as they say it is. I've installed 3 of them now. Can do it in my sleep ;D

That sammy looks great! What do you reckon it would cost to get that kit installed? I don't have the tools (or the know how) to do it myself but it looks so sweet!

I figure why spend $900 on a lift when I could spend $1600. I'm sure my wife won't like my logic. :D

If I were to install the lift I would ask no less than 800 dollars. I have seen 2 people pay more than 900 to have it done. It requires cutting off all the bumpstops, front shock mounts, spring hangers, and some other pieces, a TON of measuring and remeasuring, grinding some brackets to fit better, welding all new upper and lower spring perches, all new upper and lower control arm mounts, all new upper and lower shock mounts, pan hard mounts, grinding, painting and so on. I had my axles sandblased while they were out from under the Zuk as well and I painted and undercoated all the fenderwells and frame. I didn't want it to look like poo after all the work it took.

I had my lift installed. Just make sure you get some references before you decide on a shop. And costs? You know what they say, money talks! ;)

I springs are soft, so there is a lot
of lean in the corners, but the flexy
is what this kit is designed for

If you were to road this system alot
you might want to use a 200-225
pound spring, this kit has a 175 pound
spring
