has anyone done a junkyard electric radiator fan on a 92 kick like mine??? is so what was doner fan from and how did you fit it. and did you notice any fuel savings?

oh that warm weather really got me going now I am really looking forward to it I have already figured out how to gring the holes accurately and I am really champing at the bit to get on the bike or in the truck now.....and then I wake up to snow this morning and I was like shit now I can't start the bike....like i was actually gonna but we are going soon i have thurs/frid for the next 6 weeks so we will hit Raglan or that spot u found up north of me. and this time we will do the trails with a camera ......no guarantee that we will use it but we will have it tho ....hahaha

i used a ford taurus fan, fit infront of the rad and works awsome

in front as in not between engine and rad but in the grille area? did you hook it up as a manual switch or sensor controlled? thanks for the info. also how was mounting done? just made tabse to go on frame type idea?

yes, it is mounting infront of the rad as in by the grill.   I made a braket that bolted onto the original holes in the radiator support.  It is wired up to a external switch inside so i can turn it on went gets hot, and cheaper to set up.  I'm planning on taking the mechanical fan off and installing another ford taurus fan in place of the mechanical fan, this fan would be wired to the key so when the key turns over it starts spinning, there will also be a inline switch under the dash for this fan so when entering mud or water it can be turned off.  I'm hoping taking the mechnaical fan off will let me gain a little power and stop power loss when hitting water holes.

so the single fan is not enough to keep things cool then....I am looking at replacing my stock fan for the exact reason. power and fuel savings. I think I will go to the junker and research.

well, the clutch for my mechanical fan is pooched so i might as well switch to electric now.  I think that a single fan is enough to keep it cool in the summer on the pavement while cruzing but for me anyways when its over 40C or over 100F wheelin going slow threw trails mine would overheat.  So i will have the regular electric fan always running and when in summer and its overheating i can turn on the other fan and have double electrics turnning.

I removed the stock fan and run a pusher fan from an A/C equiped Kick in front of the rad. Seems to keep up just fine now that I put a new rad in

    would two fans do any better than 1 if there both raveling the same speed. seems redundant. it would be cool to be able to shut the fan down, in one of my sammis the fan got sucked into the rad when going through water that sucked i watked a long way because it was overheating.

thats one of the reasons im doing that.  and you don't put the fans inline with eachother, make one fan more off to one side and the other off to the other side.  cooling more and pushing more air. 

the water, winter, and fuel savings is the main reasons...water is self explaned and the winter is a bitch right now as my fan is cooling the damn truck down whlie I am trying to heat it up, and there is a dude in a xterra who went from 390-400kms/ tank to 500kms per tank and that is with a lifted truck so I figured it would kill many a bird with that stone.

I have run electric fans on my sammy's for years. You only need 1 good size fan. One with a shroud if you mount it on the engine side. I don't even turn mine on in the winter unless idling in town for a while. I can't remember what mine came off of. Most FWD cars have decent fans in them.
