Wheeling pics from today now up!
« on: November 28, 2004, 03:31:59 PM »
This morning I met up with some new Zuki drivers for a trip in the woods. These guys were really cool and I had a blast. In all, there was me and my son, two guys in Sammys and one XJ(he left early to watch football ::)). I gave them this web address, so maybe they can find their way here...

Here are a few of my favorite shots:

More pics here:

Check them out and let me know what you think!

I looked over it pretty good... about the only parts that looked usable still was the spare rim and maybe some lug nuts! LOL! The aluminum rims were actually melted on the inside beads...

Yeah, but not so good when the rear tire is in a hole and the front is against a ledge... with the front bumper stuffed between 2 trees... LOL!!! I ended up having to winch out of that pic!

Looks like only speed would've gotten you out if the tree didn't jump in your way ;)

IF you dont get stuck, winch or break something, you aren't testing the limits of your Zuk ;D

hey digger you live in eastern PA right were do you guys wheel? is that an offroad park or just some land where you know  the owner, or is it kosher to wheel in stateland down there ???  WNY has become a terrible place to wheel are usual wheeling spot was just sold for a 7 phase housing development :'( and the police and DEC have been patroling it like crazy, quads are getting busted there all the time :'(
then we went with LawDog to a spot by his house where everyone wheels and needless to say we'll be going for are final court date dec 17th and were out like $3400 in fines and "damages" >:(  if there are places like that in PA that aren't too far you gotta let us know
Also I'm on vacation this week and we'll see to it that the Lawdogs engine is ready to go sorry about  the wait with all the legal stuff and lawyers visits and Lawdog getting fired the past month and a half has been pretty bad  :-/
SWEET SHOTS looks like a good time we should wheel some time we're always up for a road trip there a burt sammi on one of the trails by our house but we never got a pic of it wish we had  :'(

Real_Red_Wagon: Actually I usually go offroading at a local 4wd club's property, but these pics were taken on privately owned "with permission" land. I live in southwestern PA, an hour or so from Pittsburgh.

1bigtracker: the heat from that fire must have been pretty intense to melt aluminum like that, wouldn't that mess up the temper of the axle shafts? It was a 4wd one I beleive...

LOL, I was going to respond to this
but though I'd let it go, but since you
asked  ;D

Aluminum soaks up head like a magnet,
so the wheels being melted is no surprise,
but the axles can take the heat, and the
part that you need to worry about is the
splines, tho the temper in the shafts is also
inportant, but the heat it would take to
affect the axle strength would have to turm
the steel axles red hot, and the wheels would
be melted gone not just a little, I would snag
the axles, and housing too, there might be
gears and shafts in the front too 26 splines
??? I'd strip all the good stuff, might check
the trans and engine, if not melted would
be a good core.

im jealous of you man, we dont have any really nice wooded trails like that down my way, all we got thats very comprable is the rubicon, but sweet shots anyway.
You can take the Sammy off the trail, but you cant take the trail out of the Sammy.
