They both have square ports (does it really matter? Who has actually done the dyno? Maybe negligible) Hawk is around $280 + shipping and Calmini is around $230 + shipping. That's off the top of my head. Calmini is stainless and Hawk says theirs is chrome steel but it's thicker. We all have heard about each's customer service. I'll probably pick one unless somebody has a better idea. It's for a 1.3 Sammy.

I have ran a Calmini header for 12 years and have been very satisfied with their product (and service). I dont have any experience with the Hawk header but they do provide excellent service and assistance for their customers. I think someone has posted previously about their liking the Hawk header: Try a search for header and see if it shows up.

Yup and for 16V it'll match the round ports.

For an 8V, as much as I hate to say it, your money is better spent on the calmini square port header (but I'd also buy via hawk since they will be true upon what's in "stock" and when it'll ship, etc).

It's my understanding that Calmini stopped carrying the ceramic coated and went strictly with the stainless steel. William at Hawk said that the Hawk header wasn't a Calmini.

I never have dealt with Calmini but they sponsor this site so we won't bash them here o.k.?  But anyone that is upset with them should call them and tell them exactly how they feel and give them a chance to remedy. Talk to the owner. If you get unsatisfactory results, don't use them. Your dollar is your vote. I'm sure enough has been said here to give anyone reading this second thoughts about using certain vendors. If a vendor has pissed you off, they have pissed others off and are only hurting their own business.

It could be "William at Hawk" either doesn't know where they come from or they are now selling Thorley headers too.

If hawk can't get stock from calmini tho ... WOW.

Hawk is the only place I'd buy calmini products from (if I had to stoop), but if they can't even get some calmini products anymore then WOW (aka check the calmini site, they show both a ceramic coated and a stainless 8V header).

BTW, I'm not "bashing" calmini ... but I also choose to spend my money with other vendors given a choice.

Try Trail Tough, Brent has headers for both the 8 and 16 valve engines from Doug Thorley.

Nice words, but over a decade late. I tried all the things you mentioned, CS was a joke and the owner was so full of himself that I finally just gave up.

By the way, the part I didn't post was about rocky road. Almost the same tooth pulling experience.

Anyone here remember Mario Raco? I hope I got his name correct, CRS has it's toll. I had a few things ordered from him when he had his problems. It may have been a bit of a struggle but I received everything I had ordered from him and I was also in contact with him to the day I received my last part.

Not something I can say about the other party. But I will try too keep the bashing part out of my posts. It's going to be hard.

I think I bought my DT headers from Rocky Road, good guys (IMO). They were nickle plated instead of chrome or ceramic, Turned blue in less than a week. But I don't much mind blue.

Lot's more power though, read noticably more power. Got to use 5th on hills on the highway again.

As for the Vendor thing (and most importantly to the free nature of this site- advertisors) The writting is on the wall, but they do pay for the walls. My suggestion is for people concerned to PM the questioning parties with first hand experiences good and bad.

I have run both Calmini & DT headers on my 16V 96 & found the DT to give the edge in power. Know that I ran the stock Suzuki cat. & a Flow Master muff. along with having a exh. shop build me all new 1.75" tubing to maintain some kind of low end. Yes the difference in power is small between the two types of headers but DT has the edge. Also keep in mind, that's all DT does....headers!
