Throttle Postion Sensor trouble
« on: March 18, 2008, 08:17:20 PM »
I receintly found out i had a bad tps sensor on my 1995 sidekick 16 valve 4 dr. I sucked it up and payed the $187.00 dollars  and installed a new one myself as per instructions in my chiltons manual. Upon installtion i reset the codes my remove both battery cables for several minutes and removing ecu fuse . I still have the same problem i still have next to nothing when it comes to throttle response i have replaced spark plugs ,wires, cap, roter, fuel and air filters and had injectors cleaned. What should i do next

Check the wiring, a friend had this problem and it was a broken wire from the TPS to the ECU. I bypassed the wire and it runs great.

have you checked to see if you have enough fuel pressure at the injector's.  Mine is a 8v and had that problem kinda.  Come to find out the fuel pump was bad.

why do u believe the tps is the fault? Have u had the codes read? Sometimes auto parts stores will loan scanners. If u get real lucky ull get someone toview the tps voltage and diagnois the fault.

21 is TPS signal high
44 is Idle switch circuit open

Is it properly adjusted? if it is then you need to check the ground wire. The ground wire should be grey/yellow and goes to A24 on the ECU.

Code 22 = TPS signal voltage low. The opposite of what you had before, did you adjust the TPS again? Otherwise it sounds like you have bad connections.
