Which Winch ???? For a tracker 4 door
« on: January 08, 2009, 08:39:39 PM »
OK im now looking at Winchs and to be Honest i cant see needing a 8000LB superwinch.
They Weigh a ton sitting on the front bumper.

Because the Tracker is a Smaller Rig why not buy a 3000 LB Superwinch then just Double the line thru a Snatch block  :)

The 3000 Lb or even 2000 Lb would pull out a Stuck tracker i figger.

Them 8000 LB ones could tear the bumper right off if ya raelly got Pulling. the Tracker dont have that Heavy a frame.

Anyway ideas on what others have used on there Sidekicks Suzukis Trackers Ect ???

I would go with a 6000lb winch. 2000lb winches are for UTV's.

Ya i just found out the little ones are useless.

Im looking at a 8000 LB Super winch. I wish i could find a 5000 or 6000 Lb one tho.

Canadian Tire has the 8000s for $399

I think there About 80 Lbs or so tho. Heavy suckers.

If you throw rope on it, that takes care of the weight problem.  Of course, it also takes care of the 'cheap winch' problem...  :D

Most of the 6000 lb winches are just 8000's lb with a smaller motor on them.  Warn makes a nice 8000lb light weight mini winch, but it's expensive and only has 50' of rope.

Warn 9.0R

http://www.warn.com/truck/9.0R_winch.shtml

They claim it's for Rock Crawling only, but you can buy it off of JC Whitney and Amazon.com so it can't be all that exclusive.  :D

Very nice looking But $1200 US Yikes.

Maby i can live with a $400 Supper winch thats like 80 Lbs.

Changeing from cable wire to that new tough Rope is a good Idea to lighten it up a few Lbs tho  :)

The crazy thing is the Warn 6000 lb winches are more expensive the Warn 8000 lbs winches so I bought the Warn m8000 winch.  I bought a new one and sold the steel cable and roller fairlead on Ebay and selling that stuff as new put a big dent into the cost of the 100' Amsteel rope and aluminum Hawse fairlead. If I remember right I only had to add $75 to have the rope and Hawse fairlead.

Nobody ever buys Warn Amsteel.  They do not want to sell it so that is why they list it for $600.

Look on Ebay for inexpensive sellers. I then go to their website stores to do the actual purchase since often shipping is less.  You need 5/16 Amsteel.  I bought my rope here. http://www.cseoffroad.com/atvsywiro.html   The 5/16 x 100" is $179 with free shipping.

I have a 8000lb Warn with a Amsteel rope on it.  I love it, the rope is the way to go!

I've been out with friends (Big Jeeps) that have been stuck or needed wenching of some kind.  So it was either I wench them out or leave and get help...
