fuel injector interchange
« on: January 20, 2009, 08:11:18 PM »
Does anyone know if there is another Suzuki product you can use the fuel injector from to put into a 89 tracker?  The auto wreckers here never seem to have trackers or sidekicks but have a few firefly's, swifts etc.  Would the fuel injector be the same in one of these applications?  Or maybe the whole throttle body.  Thanks

I'm not aware of any other injector that will interchange.

The best question is why do you need/want another injector???
Do you have a no start SideKick??? Might be the computer

No not the computer.  My buddy had starting problems and tried testing everything.  After changing the fuel injector width one I had in a motor slated  to go into my samurai, his starts fine.  So need to find a new injector for him so I can get mine back.  I Believe the dealer told him something like five hundred bucks for an injector.  Lordco was over three hundred.  I just thought if something else would work from the wreckers it would be much cheaper.  thanks.

You can get used Injectors from Hawk Suzuki, I bought a couple for a 16v at a decent price.  Not sure about an 89 1.3 though.

The injector I need is for a 1.6 tracker motor not a 1.3, sorry for the confusion.

Samurai fuel injectors will interchange, but I'd bet EFI samurais are more rare than the trackers and sidekicks in the yards.

Go to pirate4x4.com and start looking up "turbo" in the suzuki threads. I could have sworn there was someone using Nissan injectors to keep up with the boost in his 1.6L

Probably the reason they are using different injector(s) is that the Nissan injectors have a higher flow rate that stock trackick injectors.  I would guess if you use a higher flow injector in a stock engine, then it would run rich.

There are alternatives for the high impedance injectors fitted to the 16V MPI engines. However the 89 is a TBI. I can't see a search button on the Pirate forum, possibly because I'm not registered.
