I have lowered my diff by extending the hanging brackets an 1 1/2".  The ds is no problem because it hangs straight down, but the ps runs towards the back at about 45 degrees.  I cut this bracket at an angle and then slid it down, adding bracing on the sides to keep it strong.  The back of the diff gets more difficult.  I cut and lowered my cross member to allow the diff to stay straight (I believe Calmini allows theirs to angle upwards).  It would be much easier to flip your diff over and run it with high pinion, giving you lots of room to lower it.  (If you keep your oil level up, it should throw enough oil to keep the pinion bearing lubricated.)

I am going much further now, with a modified Samurai rear housing to replace the aluminum, and a recent score of an ARB.

I lowered my diff by making my own brackets. Take a look at www.flickr.com/photos/bentparts.

Now that was worth the time looking.  I had seen your a arm mod, and when spring bow became an issue I raised the spring pad to get lift and straighten the spring.  1" is not quite enough.
Nice clean work.
