Well I daily drove my samaruai 100 miles round trip for 4 years to and from work everyday. I also took it wheeling... but it all depends what you are going to do with it.  Mine I did a spring over lift and ran 31x10.5's... You lose 5th gear because of the lift, and tire size so if you run stock gearing you will on windy head wind days not be happy.. 50-55mph top on those days.  My 2nd samurai I did the same but added tracker gearing iwth 4.62's in the diffs and I loved it.  I also down the road added a weber carb which gave me some extra power.  Some small things you can do for more HP or free up RPM"s are KN airfilter system (I made my own.) and a underdrive pulley if anyone still makes them.  Otherwise your going to need gearing in axles or T-case or both depending what you do with the rig.

Having daily driven both a Sami and a Tracker, I would recommend going with a Tracker.  It has more power for the street, and can do some respectable wheeling with only a spacer lift and 235's.  It is also a much more comfortable ride, and the velcro on the top doesn't blow off each time a truck passes going the other way on a 2 lane.
