Oh no I think I have a problem....
« on: October 29, 2010, 06:13:04 PM »
On the way home yesterday from work my 93 4 door auto trans Sidekick started to miss and the overdrive lite on the dash was flashing. I stuck it into neutral and reved it and it seemed ok so I dropped it into gear and limped it into a parking spot across the street. I shut it off and popped the hood thinking I broke a belt and I looked and all the belts are ok. I jumped back in and started it and everything seemed ok, no lite and no miss. So I drove the two blocks home and it did it again ! Has anyone else ever had something like this happen ?

You might have a bad crank position sensor, it's located in the
oil pump housing and in the U shaped section at the front of the
engine, clean it from any dirt or oil, and see if the connector is
clean and not damaged

I thought the position sensor was in the back of the engine on the odbc I 16 valve engines.

How that work?  You have to send a structured query to know what position the crank is in ?  ;)

I thought they used a camshaft position sensor on the distributor.  I don't know much about the 95's though, just that the don't have one on the oil pan like the 96's.  :)
