well i was saving for the calmini 3" lift but if i can do this i will go with gears and rear locker first and do the lift next year.

thanks to a prev post i can make my own coil spacer from uhmw or polly or what ever, if i made them 2 to 3 inches and got the camber bolts would it work?  i would also make the same space strut blocks also.  i am not worried about the rear, pretty sure it would work, i have longer that stock shocks there.

any thoughts?

I've got 2.5" spacers in my truck (homemade) and have the front diff welded and i have no problems and chev cavalier rear shocks and i get about 20" of flex back there.

thanks!  another question too, anyone got a pic of the front strut spacers?  looks pretty easy to do but its always nice to how someone else does it.  i will have to check but i think my rear shocks already have enough length, when i jack it up the springs fall out be fore the shock hits the end.  but, what year of crown vic?

I'd suggest you to determine how big a tire you'll be ending up with. Then configure the axle ratio for such. That way, you only spend once on the gear/lockers. Since you are putting off for the Calmini lift, have you thought of the Calmini t-case gears?

Then for the end result in tire, how much lift and where is it needed to fit the tire. The tires will be one of the largest investments into the Tracker, other than gears/locker/t-case install.

You could look into getting the spacers which are actually made for the Tracker as they are relatively cheap, or look into getting a set of used coil spacers for a Jeep TJ, XJ, ZJ. To add, you'll need the camber adjusters to get back into alignment.
But, don't forget about a body lift kit. These are relatively cheap also.

I'd suggest this, go to 31's as a relatively cheap and available tire, to add can be used on stock rims and is pretty large in itself compared to the 27's stock. Add the coil spacers ($90), correct the alignment ($30), add longer rear shocks ($35), flip the strut bracket, correct any possible trouble areas such as pinion snout on front diff, parking brake cable may limit down travel, spacer for rear center mount on diff as this may limit down travel, get better front and rear tow points and you should have some fun with that.

went to auto parts store today, and of course there are a bunch of chevy header flanges.... but i will figure that out.  hey, if i do this 3" lift i will need a drive shaft spacer?   will i need one for the front and back and how long should they be and where to get them?  hmmm this "little" project is getting bigger by the min.  but i think it will be well worth it!  thanks all.

any checvy header flange that is** if i coudl get some advice it would be great, i am gonna try to sart them tommorw in metal work class.

I dont know the modle # i just know that it fits. I took the flange and placed it over the strut bolts to see if it would work and it did and then i welded them to a double walled exhoust pipe i made. I have had it for a while now and workes great. good luck.

the chevy header flange you need is one that has a 3" space from bolt hole to bolt hole.  got mine from nappa yesterday, they come in lots of different sizes.  the inside IDs are different too.  i got the 2 7/8" ID ones and used 3" exhaust pipe.  got it all welded up yesterday, looks great.  now my problem is finding 4 1/2" Dia UHMW stock that doesnt come in 10ft lengths! since i only need a foot.  i dont have a lathe so thats why the plastic instead of alum.

4 flanges cost me $21
1ft 3" tube cost $10
stainless bolst $2

so far not too bad.

hey, do any of the places that sell sping spacers sell them in different lengths?  if i could order ones to the lengths i want i would.
