well for the 4th time now i have failed aircare. i am high on both hydrocarbons hc(alowed .9900 my reading .7890) and carbon monoxide co(alowed 12.4300 my reading 20.430)
thae things ia hve done are, cleaned my egr valve, rebuilt my topend, new cat, plugs wires rotor,


im only really failing the carbon monoxid(co)  so what can i do to bring my numbers down another 8 points?

please hel p i am at a complete loss as to what i can do

They sell a special fuel that comes in a can for a cheat on cali cars, it is prob alcohol and a few other chems in there as well? you could try to find it.   10 gallons otta do it  

im not so lookign for a cheating way to pass, but that has crossed my mind, im lookign at what possibilities could be causing such high numbers

guess i should tell what truck its a 92 geo tracker 1.6L 8valve engine

Do you have access to a smog mach., and are you running it on a dyno or 2 speed idle test? Your definetly running rich, if you bring down the co your hc will follow. From what I can tell from your readings, I would suspect a lying o2 sensor. Pull the sensor and check to see if the sensing end is black or white. Possibly if the sensor thinks the eng is lean it will try to richen the mix IE high CO.

the 02 sensor is brand new, i looked at it and its a light tan i guess you could say white, how do i lean out the engine so i can run it thru aircare........

Also check your M A P sensor the vac. line should go to manifold vac. not ported vac.

i will also check that, what do i look for when im checkign the map sensor? also i don't think you can amnually adjust the air fuel mixture ration can you with fuel injection??

The map sensor calculates load on the eng. then adjusts the "on time" of the fuel inj.
When the eng is running there is high vac at the map sensor,at idle. If you get more vac present at the map
when revving the eng it's hooked up to ported vac.

Also is your test on a dyno or not? And where do ypu live?

well i think its on a dyno, its on rollers which they drive on and take your vehicle up to speed
i live in british columbia canda what we have here is called aircare(bunch of bull$hit)

I live in southern california and I make a living on that bullshit. If everything checks ok try it with smaller tires like orig size. the reason is because with larger tires threr is more load put on the eng. Which the map reads and adds more fuel

I found that larger tires cause a lean
condition with the turbo, where as the
stock/smaller tires allow the engine to
rev more and match the programed
fuel map in the ECU.

I would try to add some other type
of fuel to the tank, or get a can of that
smog clean, or whatever it's called, it's
supposed to help you pass smog after
one tank of gas

doesn't the pcv valve play a part here since it's only a $3 item at canadian tire  

does the pvc valve do sumting, i might just replace the map and pvc valves and run the stock 205 series tires......i really don't know why its failign so bad it has a brand new topend(finished last night) new cat etc. and it runs like a champ......man im almost just gonna sell the truck.........umm wait nah i'll keep it hahahahahaha(i hope she didn't here me say that hahahaha)
