after watching the video i would like to say that i think i rear locker WOuLD have stoped that roll.  and mabey some better tires.

If you notice, once the driver gets back into the seat, he tries to get the seat belt to work. However, due to the design of the belt system with the gravity lock, it's difficult to accomplish.

Suggestion: what I've done in my Bronco is to use the 'I' adapter for a baby seat. This 'I' makes the belt into a lap belt. Walmart sells them at the counters.

Not this is the best thing to do, but at least it works for stock vehicle's restraint systems. If the driver secured his butt into the seat, he wouldn't have been tossed around. His torso would be a little sore due to the muscles reaction, but he would have been planted in the seat.  To add, the added benefit is that you can still be moveable in the seat to lookout the window.

Ya, that works good. Mike uses one in his
Tracker for that same reason.

I used this for many years now. A few guys I know wear these. I wouldnt recomend it for high speed (50+) but for your average wheelin it is perfect and simple.

Absolutely, I believe lockers would have made a BIG difference!  That and some cool thinking behind the wheel.  Once you start doing the "death hop", it's time to regroup, try a different line, then ask for a strap.  There is NO SHAME in taking a strap, when your vehicle isn't up to an obstacle, and it's important to know when that is.

The thing that amazed me, seeing all those "built" Nissans, was that their approach angle. and departure angle are TERRIBLE!  They had to DRAG one across Golden Crack.

Mike, I have to agree, that the Golden Stairs were just not that much of an obstacle.  For Zuks, at least!

Seriously, I didn't even LOOK for a "line" up that obstacle - just "oh, OK, drive up this little bump"...

When we went up, we just drove around all the rigs, scattered all over the place.

Some tend to think so, but no, I slept at Holiday Inn Express last night........



......actually, it's over 15 yrs experience of wheeling, then being a father with 2 kids and taking them with me, securing their seats into the truck, and seeing the 'I' thing, figured it'll work for me just as well.
I've only been hassled once buy a local city officer for not wearing my seat belt. Showed him it's a lap belt and he stated that I should not alter the stock seat restraints. I asked if that was a personal comment or a specific requirement and he just laughed and continued walking away.
