It looks like a "Mercedes arm" setup...
It is hard to see with the arrow blocking the view, but is the tierod mounted on the top of the steering arm or below?
It might be possible to eliminate the problem by mounting the tierod on the bottom of the steering arms.
The "steering rod" is actually called the "draglink".
I bought a RRO (hey, I bought it used on a truck - so it was all there!) OTT and it uses a single arm on the right side for both the draglink and the steering arm. The draglink is mounted inboard of the tierod so they don't get "tangled"...
