Toyota axels?
« on: April 27, 2012, 09:58:26 PM »
Anyone know what needs to be build, bought and or modified to put in Toyota axels?
( I am wanting to do this because the 82 SJ is hard to find parts, do I want to go with more common front and rear axels, if you have any other suggestions I'm all ears!)
Thanks

CJ 5 axles require much less modification to swap into a Sammy. Aspecialy pre 71 s. They are nearly a direct fit.
Corect off set and width.   ...Boxcar...

Are you looking at putting a new motor in as well?  If your just looking for slightly larger axles with easier to find parts I would track down a set of Samurai axles.  That will give you disk brakes in the front, access to a lot more locker options and they are 3" wider then your stock SJ-410 axles.

You will need to re-weld your spring pads but they can be made to work with your stock springs without to many issues.
