Ye,that TORQUY 4 cyl might rip those welds loose!!
A good welding will hold pretty damn good,I have seen/helped/done several SPOA and no issues with regular perches.Heck,I get my perches from a trailer supply Co.,the big thing is to grind down those welding spots to good bare metal !
Actually, the problem is the metal you are welding to. You don't rip the welds off, you rip the tubing that the welds are attached to. Usually while s-curving the springs at the same time.
As for the torque, when your running 140:1 it doesn't take more then 49lb's at the flywheel to bend things. When I tore mine it was after I lost fwd due to a malfunctioning front locker and had to drive up some loose hills with 2wd. When the tires would randomly grab traction I could lift the front tires off the ground.
