new to samurais!
« on: October 04, 2012, 04:08:35 PM »
hey guys im new to the sami world and have a few questions....
i found a few samurais around local and was wondering how hard is it to lift one and is there a walkthrough on here how to install one?
id like to lift it enough to put at least 31" tires and still be a daily driver but be able to handle an offroad excursion freom time to time...nothing major.
one i found that comes with a 6" SPOA lift but it doesnt have the shocks...can you use the factory shocks with a SPOA lift?

The Samurai is not a difficult vehicle to work on by any means, but you do need to have a little knowledge of automotive repair. I installed a 6" SPOA on my Zuk in just a few days (mine took a little longer, cause I needed a few things that I could only order from out of town). BUT, I have built a few rigs  (FORDs) in the past, so I had a good idea of what went where. As far as the stock shocks fitting on the 6" SPOA, Im not gonna say they wont fit, but its not the correct shock. You can get aftermarket shocks that are the correct size for that lift. If it looks clean I would get the Zuk that has the SPOA already done and then buy the correct shocks and be done. Just my .02

I would hit up Ack's Faq and get a copy of the FSM.  Or pick up a paper copy of the FSM, that will give you the info you need to do the work.
