Wheels for XL7?

Yankee Tim - you say some aftermarket alloys will fit over the calipers.  Do you have specific brands/models?  Thanks.

Blacknight - nice XL7.  Does it have 225/70-16's?  Is it lifted?  If not, do you have any rubbing or problems with spacing when compressed?

Yup it lifted and Im running 225/75/16 for now ::) but 225/70/16 will fit stock with no rubbing.

Don't know which makes.  I think Weld had one, and and AR.  I've seen aftermarket alloys on other Geevs and XLs on the street, and on ebay.  They are out there.

In my webshots, I've got pics of my X with 225/70's on stock suspension. Compressed and drooped in a couple.

there are more but I'm not too sure what you're looking for. I put A/R Teron 20x8.5s on my Tracker and they look pimp.

check out http://www.rimstop.com/softwheels.asp (takes a little bit to load) and take a look at what looks good onyour car. They mark the wheels that will fit.

If you are going to call your shop here is the info they need to verify with the vendor:

5 on 5.5" bolt pattern
8.5" max rim width
4.5" or more backside clearance (not sure what the +/- offset is, but this number is easier for them to work with)
~2" for the hub (4x4)

has anyone tried sidekick sport wheels they are 16" can't remember the width maybe 6 or 7 inches

From what I gather the offset on Vitara/Trackers is about 25 mm and offset for GV/XL7 is 0.  Anyone, is this right?

Yeah, that's for the Tracker/Vitara. I'm not sure what clearance is needed for the XL-7 but you could easily call any tire company (America's tire, Big-O, Winston Tires, etc) and they'll tell you. If they don't then they suck and I wouldn't go back to them... :D

I have an aluminum XL7 rim in the garage. I'll measure it tonight.

I used an English tape measure. The bs of the 16x7 XL7 aluminum wheel measures 4.25". The 'JJ' measures ~5.875". See pics in X Tech album.

Any updates on sources for aftermarket rims for a 2003 XL7? I would like a set in the spring to put the original Bridgestone Duellers on. Currently running Pirrelli Winter Carvers on the steel rims that came stock.

I am located in Toronto.

Holy thread archaeology batman!  Dug this one up from the past, didn't we?

Figure out your backspacing, then go look around.  You need at least a 16" wheel to clear the front brake calipers and  a 4" centerhole width to clear the front hub assembly.  Your factory wheels are 7" wide so that would be a good starting point.  Bolt pattern is 5x5.5".  You should have at least 4" of backspacing unless you want the tires to stick out from under the truck a lot.  I don't like that as you end up with a lot of crap thrown up onto the sides of the truck as soon as it rains.

I guess i could chime in and help. Seeing how i work for american racing. The xl7s and grand vitras are a hard fitment not just cause of offset but because of center bore. They use what in the industry is a stander 4.25 bore or 1/2 ton bore. common on bronco jeeps dodge ect. Now they also use a mid to high offset. Seeing how the only vehicle other then suzuki to use a 5x5.5 is a new dodge and they require the same offset and caliper clearance issues. BUt the problem is most of those wheels are hub centric to dodge and won't fit on the suzuki hub. So what a common fix is to have the wheel professionaly bored to fit the hub and use a standerd 4.25 cap or if its a coverd lugs use that cap. And yes a sidekick sport does have the same offset but won't work because of cailper issues in front. Offset by the way is determined by were the mounting pad sits. if it sits in middle of the wheel it has a zero offset if its moved outboard it has a postive and in board a negtive.

Thanks for the quick responses AJMBLAZER and Suzuki1.8. Quite impressive, considering the thread has been asleep for a year and a half. I will continue looking for aftermarket rims, that conform to the additional info you provided.
