2.5/2.7 V6 Samurai swaps
« on: March 07, 2004, 11:33:05 AM »
First I was wondering if the x-case is mated to the trans on either the 2.5 or the 2.7 from the GV or XL-7 or does it connect via a driveshaft? Does anybody have the inside scoop if any manufacturers are working on any Suzuki V6 to Samurai swap kits? How about the 2 liter out of a Vitara? Any bellhousing adapters? How much harder would it be to wire in the 2 liter vs. the 1.6 16V? I just don't think a 1.6 8V would satisfy my power needs, although it's by far the easiest swap. I don't want a 4.3 Vortec or VW turbo diesel. I want to keep this one all Suzuki.

Trailtough makes a 2.0 swap for sammies. As far as a 2.5/2.7 sammy swap, I know of noone who makes one.
The GV and XL-7 use a married t-case setup like the kicks do. If you want to run the GV stuff, try going through OTT and have them modify the transfer case into the kicker3 version married to the sammy case. I think that would be sweet as hell! Try it, you might like it! Hehe! ;D

There are a lot of questions in there. :) I don't think you'll see a V6 to Samurai transmission adapter because the sizes of the bellhousing are quite a bit different. Also, there really isn't enough room in a samurai for the V6 engine unless you run a body lift because this motor is really-really tall. However, I just heard word, an unconfirmed sighting if you will, of a Samurai in Salem, OR sporting a 2.5 liter engine.... Here's a plausable option for you / or combo that'll bolt together: 2.5 or 2.7 V6 mated to GV automatic mated to a Sidekick case with a Crawler gear set. That's what I've got in my green Sidekick and it sounds like there is a chance it'll fit in a Samurai although I don't see how...

Good Luck, Eric

Thanks for the info. Now I need to start doing some homework. Most all of my Zuk knowledge pertains to Sammy's and not too much on the newer stuff.

Oh come'on.  You think I'm talking hack and wack?  noooo.

I saw a Caddy 502 shoehorned into a 68 'maro.  Looked factory (seriously).  After seeing that, a H25/H27 in a Sammy would be easy.
