I used RRO for a lift (2" &2.5") got fast service and good product.
Instructions were - none.
Still better than any thing I got out of Calmini.

Did you contact RROs and if so, what was thier reply.  If you contacted them or haven't, you need to talk to Glenn Wakefield.  I think  he is the owner.  I have bought a couple of things and had good luck but found out the guys that answer the phone don't really know much and can give the wrong answers.

I have their 2" suspension lift on my 2002 2 dour Tracker and it worked OK and was going to buy the 2" body lift but was concerned with the steering linkage problem.  

Will be interested on what solution you come up with.

Yes, I have emailed Glenn.  His response was that it was the first he had heard of someone having trouble with the kit.  I find this hard to believe since I have found numerous web hits regarding it not working and none with a solution.  I can't be the first person to complain about paying for a product that is advertised as working and absolutely does not work.

He offered to weld two connecting blocks together.  This is not an acceptable solution for obvious safety reasons.  This is a brand new daily driver for my wife and child.  When I get the vehicle back from the custom chassis shop (where they build tubular framed race cars from the ground up - and could not solve the angle problem) I will take the body lift off.  I will wait until a "real" solution is offered and settle for an expensive 2" suspension lift and much smaller tires than planned.

as luck would have it i bought my calmini suspension lift and the rro body lift and my truck got whacked by some foolish 16 yr old who just got his liscense before i was able to start working on the track.  well since his daddys insurance is paying for the damage they just paid me to fix the damage (+2000 k) in parts, and paid for all my new upgraded parts.  regarding the rro body lift one of our members, snoopy told me that on his 2 door track the body lift was no tougher than loosening the brake lines and fabricating bumber brackets.  i live in the icy hell called buffalo so im gonna play doctor frankenstien on my truck come thaw in march.  i will document the lift process for y'all but its gonna be a few weeks. up till now i have been mostly concerned with the solution for the strut support.  now im wondering what else may surprise me in my project seeing it too is a daily driver (fortunatly i can steal my work truck as a back up vehicle)

Frist off some time ago (8/12/03) I emailed glen and talk to him about this and at that time he told me this was frist he head of this.   So he  flat out  S.B.ing  you.  

The only fix that I know of  is to space the  two joints by power steering.  This can can be done safer with one block with two bolt holes drilled and tapped.  Then bolt it back up and put a pin through the end of the bolts so that the nuts can't back off.  Safer then weilding two blocks together but then again its not stock  SO it would never be as safe.

 This is not an acceptable solution for obvious safety reasons.  This is a brand new daily driver for my wife and child...   I will wait until a "real" solution is offered and settle for an expensive 2" suspension lift and much smaller tires than planned.

Not to pick on you, but lifting a vehicle, especially with a body lift, and considering safety as a daily driver  with your family is, well, absurd.

If you want to be safe, don't lift a vehicle.  No smart vendor will sell you a body lift and recommend it to be driven on the road.  If you do and something happens, shame on you for putting you and your family in harms way.

That being said, I have a prototype 3" body lift from CALMINI on my GV.  It's been on since early 2002, and has seen about 25K+ miles.  No problems at all.  They designed parts to replace OEM components in the steering linkage, and it all went together flawlessly.

My suggestion?  Call  'MINI and request that they bring the GV body lift to market.

Accusing someone of death threats openly, I hope you have evidence of what you acused them of, because that is a VERY SERIOUS accusation. I personally know many of the guys at Calmini and could not imagine any of them doing that!!!!

What?  Any reasonable body or suspension lift, which includes the ones we are talking about here, is acceptable for street use.  Both of my Suzukis are lifted and both are driven regularly on the street by my wife.

Wow. Dont you think thats a little harsh? I do consider saftey while building my rig. Thats why I run a cage, a larger braking system , and for every inch I went up... I went out. Wider is better baby! If I didnt consider my rig safe I wouldnt drive it 40K+ a year. Sure I could drive a Volvo, make my kids wear helmets, and fill the thing with pakaging peanuts, but is that really living? Where do you draw the line on saftey? I think it comes down to what your capable of driving safely. I dont think A properly installed body lift should not be dangerous.

It's all in how you look at it. Comen sense is a big factor. If i drove any of my sammys i had or my track i have now like my old MR2 id be in a world of hurt. Lifted or not there great at what they do just drive to your ability. Yeah yeah it might sound stupid coming from a 18 year old but ive had a lotta f*** up's and from what ive learnd i dont think a body lift will compermise the safety of your vehicle. AS for RR's buisness i wouldn't know. I know they told me to slot the strut tower holes on my track for camber but i went to car quest and got camber bolts for my track for $14.00.
