I've been having more problem's with my wheel studs that bearings.  If you do run spacers, BE SURE you uses some loc-tite and tighten your lug nuts properly.

First things first when u do wheel spacers.

Clean the grease off the wheels hubs and clean off with a wire brush. Thread chase the threads i believe its a 10mmx1.25mm then when all done spray brake clean and blow off.

To install the spacers apply Red loctite to the threads and tighten to 40ftlbs then 80ft lbs all in a criss cross pattern.

Ive had mine on for 20,000km still tight

Anytime you push the wheels further out from the bearings you are adding stress to them. Imagine a wheelbarrow. When the wheel is in the center, it's easy to balance and the load is directly centered on the bearings. Now mount the wheel off to one side and try to move the wheelbarrow. It is almost impossible because of the offset of the weight on the bearing surface and the wheel...
Had a cool sig pic till I changed the text... sigh...

If the question is do spacers (or for that matter non-stock BS wheels) put added stress on the bearings? ... The answer is ... Yes!

If the question is do spacers (or for that matter non-stock BS wheels) cause a problem with the  added stress on the bearings? ... The answer is ... Depends on who you ask!

IMHO, probably some life on the bearings is shortend, but these rigs are so light, I wouldn't worry about it (and plenty do it too).

There are guys in my club that go through more bearings running boggers than I have running wheel spacers and swampers (I have only had to replace one rear wheel bearing in three years).
So, if you run spacers AND boggers how are you gonna know what to blame (and therefore fix)?  Just automaticaly assume it's the spacers....???
