I know on the tracker, the rated tow limit is 1,000 pounds. I would be willing to bet that bayliner is a LOT heavier than 1,000 pounds  ::)

I have seen what happens when you tow a lot of weight down the highway with a small gm automatic tranny. The aftermath looked like a grenade went off inside the transmission  ;D

I tow a 500 lb. plus wood trailer(empty) all the time, with wet wood I had the tires smoking on the fenders the other day i'm guessing 3000 to 3500 lbs it holds just over a cord of wood, I have also towed a full equiped hard top sammie with winch i,m guessing 2300 plus lbs and did not hardly notice it being there compaired to the wood trailer with my sammie and the 16 valve and tranfer case gears is all and i'm at 4300 feet.

I towed an SJ410 on a 4 wheel car trailer once, it coped surprisingly well but the brakes felt a little weak. At the time it was on stock suspension and tyres and is a 5 speed. As I recall this subject was discussed a while back and the towing limits were different for different countries.

This is from my (UK) owners handbook:

MASS Kg(Lbs)
Kerb Mass (2535/2557)*
Gross Vehicle Mass (3307)
Gross Axle Mass - Front (1565)
Gross Axle Mass - Rear (1984)
Towing Capacity - Braked Trailer 1450kg
Towing Capacity - Unbraked Trailer 450kg

I've got you all beat! On the way back from GonZookin 2005 at Paragon Off-Road Park we ran out of fuel in a 1987 Diesel Suburban with a 28 foot trailer behind it while towing "Krusty" (the rusty lifted Tracker on 34's) and the 2.0 Liter Beater (my black Samurai on 35's). We were coming down an off-ramp and I noticed that the Suburban lost power steering then realized it was out of fuel. In front of me was a hill with gas stations up at the top. Within a minute or two of coming to a stop at the bottom of the off ramp a police car came up behind us and asked if we needed a tow truck or two to get us up to the gas station. I said no and quickly thought of how to get us off the ramp and up there without spending $100 or more in towing fees. I pulled the Samurai off of the trailer then hooked up a strap to the front of the Suburban then put her in 4-LOW and started pulling.  With minimal clutch burning she slowly started moving and we watched the cops eyes bug-out as I pulled the Suburban with loaded 28ft trailer up the hill behind my Zuk to the fuel station. We got the Suburban pulled up to the diesel pump then reloaded the Samurai on to the trailer and after bleeding the fuel filter and injector lines finally got her running again.

100% true story!........just wish I had a pic of that!

I illegally towed a 98 Plymouth Neon 10 miles to the car dealership where my friend was gonna sell it.  I was amazed my tow point held up through that.  My friend was pretty impressed my Tracker could even move his heavy a$$ Neon.

I towed a wounded XJ out of a trail the other day, through a huge mud puddle and everything. I also yanked another XJ out of really deep sand, and came close to getting a 2wd chevy fullsize out of a wet sand hole on the beach IN THE SURF.

On the highway at speed, the only thing I've ever towed is the Zukamper.  About 800 lbs empty, about 1100 loaded for a trip,

I have a 15' jet boat that is around 2000 lbs that I tow all summer. Seems to handle it fine except for long hills. The diesel will solve that though!  :P

Wow, the sami story pulling the suburban, is amazing.

THe most i've towed on the road was my landscaping equipment trailer with 2yards of top soil.
Thats 2 metric tonne.

I've got helper springs, between mu rear axel and frame.

Another time, my buddys dad called me up one spring day, and he need needed his trailer moved. He explained the trailer  was stuck, and his van couldnt get any traction. Me assuming it was a small utility trail. I made my way to his house, when i pulled up he was sitting there trying to put some wood under the tire of this 30 foot camping trailer. The trailer had sat all winter long in the back yard on the grass, and it had drop about 5 inches on one side. The side that had sank one of th two tires had a flat. We hooked her up, and sure enough the tracker pulled the hug trailer from the rut on the dry land. It wasnt a far tow, about 30 feet but it sure pulled that bad boy out.  He was so amazed that,  3 months later, he went and got a 2001, tracker two door for him self.

Amazing what these little things can do.
