tp sensor

so finally after a few weeks of thinken it was my o2 sensor ....i ran the codes and i got that back ... tps sensor ...wtf is it and how much is it lol ....i would greatley appreciate any help...thanx

8V or 16V engine ???

TPS is Throttle Position Sensor
and it located opposite side of
where the throttle cable is, usually

is there a way to check your  tp sensor with a ohm meter?

Yes, but if there is alot of miles on your rig I would replace it,also check your butterfly shaft that hooks to it for play.

8V TPS is not a smooth sweep on the
Ohm meter, it's more of a switch that
tells the computer when you are off idle
and at WOT, so don't expect to see a
meter reading like a Pot would show

That sucks, how many wires are on the 8v tps? my 16v has three.

I think that only thevery early models had that arrangement. Mines an 8V and mine has a pot and an idle switch, FSM shows it as a pot too. You can see in the pic below that there are 4 wires, Jap models have 5 wires




You can test it with an ohmmeter, although I found that the wire colours on mine don't match those shown in the FSM. Have you looked at the diagnostic stuff here:
