Are you aware that there are three adjustments that can effect your idle speed? There is the cold / fast idle adjustment that is the more obvious adjustment at the back of the carb close to the cable pull linkage. The warm idle adjustment is also at the back of the carb but is tucked underneath a fair share of hoses and is located at the baseplate of the carb. The third place that could be effecting your idle is the idle up circuitry adjustment. The idle up / accessory on idle adjustment is a large(ish) bolt located at the back of the carb that a vacuum plunger pushes on to idle up the vehicle whenever an accessory is turned on (lights, heater) or you are above a certain altitude.

Try checking and/or adjusting (if needed) these first.

But wait! Do you have a vacuum leak? Did this problem just start happening? Check for crack/broken/misfitting hoses and possible leaks at the baseplate of the carb..

Good Luck, Eric

PS. Wasn't there a thread on here that had some carb pictures? I seem to recall there was.... Anyone remember?
