Trust me, do not, under any circumstances, move down in size and durability to a GV pumpkin/third member. I am at 75K miles, and have broken the pinion gear for the third time. No abuse, minimal off-roading, and I even went farther on the 'Kick 5.12 diff than the second GV diff. OEM diff, 55K miles, second GV diff, 5K miles, third 'Kick diff, 15K miles. At least I know what the noise of diff failure sounds like when it's about 100 miles from detonation.
Right now, I'm not far away from slapping an XL-7, automatic trans, entire rear axle under there. I'm tired of this part breaking...
