i had an 84 RX-7 and it had an exhaust overheat sensor in the tank. Meaning if the tank got to hot from the exhaust being next to it a warning light would go on to let you know to let it cool down.

Any speculation on my part would be pure conjecture. :D :D   It seems like it would be something to do with maybe the battery getting hot from too much draw? Maybe it is warning about excessively hot exhaust so you know not to drive across a hay field. Not sure but I'm curious too. Maybe it's telling you to pull over and grab a cup of coffee.

I know the us ones dont have that. It might mean that the catalytic converter is too hot, or doesnt work or something. I know some cars here in the 1980s had a catalytic converter or emissions control warning light to let you know that the emissions controls arent working.

i think too hot is out of the question. this warning pops out when i start the car in the morning and it fades after around ten minutes of running. it pops out again when i start the car during the day and fades after a while.

im stumped.

maybe it really is calling me to get coffee.  ???

My comes on a couple times a day.  Someone told me it had to do with air PCV sensor.  My ESCUDO is working fine, so it doesn't bother me.

I'm thinking EGT. Whereabouts are you located? You haven't filled in your profile. That must be a km/h speedo.

did you ever figure out what this red light means?  I think it has to do with the brakes. I just test drove a 95 volvo 850 turbo and it had a similar light go off everytime the brake pedal was pushed. I'm going to the volvo forum and see what it means since the volvo owner said it was supposed to do that and I don't believe him. In the volvo's case, I'm speculating that it has to do with a clogged cat causing the engine to struggle and in turn providing insufficient boost to the brakes. It seems to be causing the a.c. compressor to shut off too due to the engine performance problem. Wild guess since I know nothing about volvo mechanicals.

Maybe you won some kind of a contest and you should call Chevrolet.

But seriously ladies and germs, here's MY stupid guess:

How many miles you got on it? Chances are, they're not going to use a Chevrolet logo as an indication that something is WRONG with the vehicle. It might just mean it's time for one of those regulalrly scheduled service appointments.

Did you try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes to see if it resets?

Also, this thread is confusing the hell out of me. This IS a Chevy, right? The Volvo mentions are throwing me off.

Oh sorry. I was driving the volvo and my ever wandering mind made me think of this thread so I searched it back for a reply. Like I said, the light was similar and that made me think of the suzuki since alot of car makers use similar warnings. I'll leave it at that! >:D
