You guys with the trackers with 1.6 16 valve engines and 5.13 gears must have never driven a stock sammie with a 1.3 engine and 3.73 gears, there is just a little difference.  ::)

Retreads are nice as long as you use them when it's cold but I wouldn't recommend them for summer use.

Bashzuk, that second picture is the shite.  I would love to make it look like that but this is a daily driver as I already have a 72 CJ5 with all full size chevy under it.  I ended up getting some 215/75/15 since the guy at the tire store gave me a look like I was nuts for even asking about 235's.  Next I need to get the exhaust fixed is looks like swiss cheese and see if that improved the power.  I have done some reading regarding the stock carb and was wondering what is involved in going to the weber and loosing the smog stuff since I don't need emissions where I live.  Anyone gone this route?

Rip just curious did you have your rig with you when you went to the tire store?
Also if you take the time to explain to the store clerk what you are trying to do and being friendly, this has made all my interactions with most tire shops a good experience.
The reason non off road shop tire stores a wary of selling you tires that may not fit a stock rig is because you have people the buy tires that do not fit the rig they go on then they end up tearing up the tires and blaming the people they bought the tires from.
This is the reason costco will not sell you tires that are not manufacturer spec.

Anyway on to the carb question
I had a buddy who had the webber and couldn't get it tuned correctly ever.
I would buy a rebuild kit for the stock carb and the vent tube fix and see if that does it.

Too bad you don't live in Marysville Washington a stock exhaust was on craigslist yesterday for 50 bucks.

Now about the retread comment does the bonding agent heat up and come apart in hotter weather kubik? I was thinking about getting a set for my tow rig.

Also big_kountry who was the dumb people piss you off comment directed at?
Mean Green Wheeling Machine
88 Samurai 1" Shackles SPOA with 32" Tires
It's not a Jeep thing, it's not a Suzuki thing, or a Chevy,Ford thing.

Just look at tractor trailers, in the winter how many tractor trailer recaps do you see on the side of the road - hardly any but in the summer they are all over the road, when the gluing compound gets hot it gives way and they fly off the tire.

I was a tire guy for 3 years at a local tire shop and you would be surprised at how many people come in to get over sized tires on their trucks and suvs (mostly Jeep guys) and never look into see what fits and what hits and don't know they need a lift.

those guys^

I did have the sami with me when I went to the store and the guy that was helping me was great.  He said that he had personally attempted to put 235's on a stock Samurai and that they rubbed the front fender when turning.  I then asked about 225's and he said that he had not tried that size but was able to show me with a 215 that happend to be on stock rim and at the store how little clearance there was in the front at about half turn.  I believed him and went with the 215's as this really is just a daily driver and I don't want to open a can of worms with gearing and all that.  As for the carb question I think I will have the exhaust repaired/replaced and see how it runs.  If not as good as I would expect I guess it's a rebuild kit for me.
